It is an undeniable fact that each time surgery is done on the body, the physical system receives a shock. The interference is too drastic and the effects stay in the body for long. It disturbs the rhythm set up by Nature over the years and the old balance is never completely restored. In a yoga of the body like ours surgery is the last option. The Mother was always against surgery and would not permit it till all other measures were exhausted. She would say: you know where you start but not where you end. Even when surgery was the only course, she preferred to wait for as long as possible without recourse to that step.
With the advances in human knowledge, however, things are slowly changing. More and more it is being realized that the physical is not the only dimension in our life. Behind and around the physical exterior, there are ranges of being which are of a subtler character and they are closely related to the grosser levels of existence. Spiritual and occult science testifies to the fact that it is possible to act upon the physical from these dimensions and produce results. The successful techniques adopted and demonstrated by some of the adepts from the Philippines are an incontrovertible proof of these possibilities. Time and again these experts have cured diseases of the intestines and the like without recourse to the surgeons's knife. With their bare hands they open up the affected parts, take out the growths or reset the organism and close the opening without elaborate bandaging etc. Renowned medical men have watched these performances and have convinced themselves that it is not quackery.
These methods involve the opening of the limbs of the body without the knife. Today things have gone still further. Methods have been demonstrated by which it is possible, by identification in consciousness, for the adept to enter into the person who is ill, manipulate the system which has gone out of order, on the subtle plane and effect results. The recent remarkable books of Kyracos Markides on the Magus of Strovolos, Spyros Sathi, open up several possibilities that are ahead of man in this direction. The key is in complete identification of consciousness and knowledge of the occult techniques to handle the internal organs and restore the disturbed order. Tumours, cancers arthritis and such obstinate dreaded ailments have been tackled with deftness and faith in Providence. Specific prayer-formulae are used and 'irreversible' situations have been corrected. Things are explained scientifically - of course it being admitted that there is a supra-physical science with a much larger range than the physical. They are not 'miracles' of the type performed by holy men right from the days of Jesus to the present times when the lame can still be made to walk. The action that we speak of is of a spiritual occult kind, a glimpse into which was provided by the Mother on certain occasions. She would visit the patient in her subtle body and work upon him in her own way. But hereafter such an operation need not be confined only to persons of her spiritual stature. It is open to those who have the requisite faith and capacities to extend the range of their faculties beyond the strictly physical, to set right disorders without the aid of surgery. The key is Love. You must be able to completely identify yourself with the afflicted, take on - if necessary - his suffering for the time being. Also you must learn to be a plastic channel of the Force that cures. You must be absolutely self-less.
